Consistency. Discipline. Action.

These are the pillars that changed not just my body, but my mindset and my life.

Summer 2023: My Breaking Point

I was always into fitness. Yoga was my thing, and I kept a healthy, active lifestyle for years. But then, 2023 hit different. I reached probably the highest weight of my life - about 63kg. I wasn’t happy. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror, was scared to take pictures, and honestly, I hated my body. I felt so insecure.

But I know myself, I have strong willpower. That summer, when this pic was taken, was my breaking point. I was like: no more! I need to change! And this is not going to be some BS story. I want to be honest and reveal my whole truth...

The Honest Truth: No Magic Fix

I tried everything. Restricted diets, working out like crazy, cutting out all the pleasures: sweets, alcohol, carbs, you name it... But I just felt tired all the time. I wasn’t happy, and it was impossible to maintain.

So, I went to the doctor - an endocrinologist to check if I had any hormonal problems since the weight just wouldn’t go down. After a ton of tests and confirming my bloodwork was fine, he prescribed me Rybelsus.

(Rybelsus, also known as semaglutide or Ozempic, is a medication for type 2 diabetes that’s now sometimes used for weight management. It mimics a hormone that regulates appetite but it’s not a magic fix and definitely not risk-free!)

And let me be super clear: I am absolutely NOT encouraging anyone to take it! On the contrary! I think this is very dangerous and should only be used if absolutely necessary and under a doctor’s supervision. The trend of using it as a “magic diet pill” is terrifying! There are more and more stories of serious side effects and even deaths. Please, do NOT try it!

Luckily for me (and I emphasize I’m an extremely healthy person with zero conditions), it was okay to take it in my case. But the side effects were real! I was tired, nauseous, had stomach problems... And let me remind you - this is NOT a shortcut.

If you want results, you still need to combine it with regular exercise, a balanced diet, good sleep, rest, hydration, and tracking your macros.

Yes, it helped me drop some kilos. But the truth is, I wasn’t eating enough and couldn’t perform my best at the gym. So, after 6 months (and losing 10 kg), I stopped taking it. The effects were there, but I lost a lot of muscle and was just skinnier, not happier.

And That’s When My Real Journey Started

I got back to eating healthy, but in a way I could actually maintain - 80% good food, 20% guilty pleasures (because pizza, burgers, ice creams, carrot cakes and cheesecakes are life 🍕). I cut alcohol, started smashing the gym like never before, and most importantly - stayed consistent.

For me, showing up 3 days a week for resistance training is perfect. I started using apps like Fitbod, Believe, Gymverse (paid), and Gymshark Training (free).

Why I love training apps:

  • It’s like having a personal trainer in your pocket 💪

  • Tailors workouts for your needs

  • You can pick 3-day (or more) workout plans

  • Tutorial videos for every exercise

  • AI suggests weights

  • You can track progressive overload

  • Helps you stay motivated and consistent

What works best for me is changing my plan every 6–8 weeks with progressive overload, making the last week your PEAK. It feels amazing to keep growing and getting stronger!

If you want to lose weight, add cardio you actually enjoy: 10 minutes on the treadmill after your workout, 1–2 classes a week (like body pump, aerobics, indoor cycling etc...), running, or just walking. The key? Find what you love and stick with it!

Don’t force yourself! If you hate running, don’t run! Your cardio can be walking, and that’s totally fine. Oh, and we don’t all need to hit 10k steps every day (especially with remote work), but try to move as much as possible daily.

Finding My Passions Again

Yoga still grounds me, so I add it to the end of my training or go 1–2 times a week to my favorite studios: Shanti, Sabda, or Sarana.

And here’s the crazy part: I never considered myself a runner. Even 10 minutes on the treadmill used to be enough for me. But I decided to challenge myself and signed up for the Cursa Diagonal 2025, a popular 5-10km race in Barcelona.

I started preparing around March, first by taking longer sessions on the treadmill - 20, 30 minutes. I also created a good playlist which helped a lot too! 😄 Then I did something amazing and joined running clubs Rodeo and Razze where challenge meets socializing.

I absolutely loved the vibe and suddenly, I became a runner! Not only I smashed the run (hit my personal best) that day on 25th of May and felt endorphins running through my veins way after the event, but I even regretted not signing up for 10km! And I am already planning to participate in a next one, around November.

However, I am not gonna lie, summer running isn’t as nice as early spring in Barcelona… 😅

Strength, Inside and Out

Getting back into yoga, dancing in heels, and smashing resistance workouts 3–5 times a week became my therapy. Exercise helped me through personal and professional challenges, giving me confidence and joy. Now, I feel strong, empowered, and happy in my own skin, finally comfortable in a bikini, proud of my progress, and, most importantly -

h e a l t h y.

My Takeaways:

  • Consistency beats motivation.

  • Discipline is self-care.

  • Progress isn’t linear, but it’s always possible.

  • Empowerment comes from action.

When I became a badass in the gym, I became a badass in life.

And that’s my biggest win.

Final Word

If you’re struggling, know that change is possible. Start small, stay consistent, and celebrate every win. Find what you love, make it yours, and never give up.

What’s your next goal?

Stronger every day - inside and out
