Crème de la Crème for international Yogis in Barcelona a.k.a "La Shanti Vida"

Updated: Oct 30, 2021

Reviewing La Shanti Vida in Barcelona.

The first shot goes to SHANTI VIDA CREATIVE YOGA HUB, which I consider by far to be my favorite yoga studio in the city. One of the main advantages of this magical place is its beautiful design. Bricked walls, pillars in the middle of the room and a huge window overlooking a charming little garden make this shala unique and magnificent. The ambiance you absorb from the moment you enter will stay with you for a long time even after leaving the centre.

Another strong point of Shanti Vida is the staff. Teachers are clearly experienced and passionate. Mitch, the Jivamukti master will push you to your limits during his advanced classes, leaving you with the blissful feeling of accomplishment. Anna will melt your heart with her sweet voice and a beautiful Vinyasa flow. What I appreciate from them and other teachers is how engaging they are with the students. Instead of standing in front of the class just showing the poses, teachers walk around and correct you making sure you have a proper alignment. Be prepared for the physical contact (of course only if you're ok with it) but this way, you'll improve your practice and overcome fears as well as obstacles in your head.

The variety of the classes, workshops and activities is impressive and that's definitely another pro worth mentioning. Everyone can find something for themselves in this studio. However, I'd recommend it rather to yogis with a bit of previous experience, because some classes may be challenging for beginners.

Furthermore, another important aspect is the fact that classes are in English. This is definitely a plus for an expat like me, who doesn't feel comfortable enough with Spanish.

Truth be told, it's difficult to find any cons of that studio but there's always some room for improvement... Here, my only complain is the size of the changing room because it's very tiny therefore it gets busy and crowded easily. Maybe a good thing to bear in mind is to arrive earlier before the class to avoid a queue to the toilet.

If you're a yogi looking for a challenge and ready to feed your soul with all the goods that Yoga brings - this is undoubtedly a place for you!
